Coaching for Development:
Coaching is a powerful, person-centered approach to growth that builds trust, deepens self-awareness, and unlocks potential.
This interactive workshop introduces a practical coaching framework, explores real-world applications, and equips participants to coach with curiosity, empathy, and impact.
Participants will explore the relationship between coaching, mentoring, and feedback as complementary tools in performance enablement and employee development.
The session also emphasizes key communication skills—such as active listening and effective questioning—that are critical to supporting the coaching process.
Learning Objectives:
- Define coaching as a developmental partnership and articulate its benefits for individuals, teams, and organizational culture
- Explore the relationship between coaching, mentoring, and feedback as tools for performance management and employee development
- Identify and apply key communication skills (including active listening, questioning, objectivity, and feedback) to support meaningful coaching conversations
- Utilize a coaching framework to support performance, learning, and adaptive thinking
- Practice core coaching skills applying key communication skills to foster psychological safety and accountability
Facilitator
Pat Hirst is the Founder of Touchstone Resources, a consulting practice where she shares strategies and tools to coach people to create the life they choose. She specializes in effective communication, leadership, negotiation, presentation skills, and performance enablement, empowering individuals and teams to thrive in today’s dynamic workplace. Pat believes that by working together, employees and leaders can create positive relationships, develop a collaborative culture, and deliver results.
From 2019 to 2025, Pat took a break from her consulting practice to work with organizations on a full-time basis, including Wawanesa, People First HR, and MacDon Industries. These endeavors gave Pat a renewed perspective on workplace culture and how to support both leaders and employees as we navigate our complex world.
A best-selling author, certified executive coach, skilled facilitator, keynote speaker, and DEIB specialist, Pat empowers high-performing teams by cultivating emotionally intelligent leadership, providing professional development, inclusive culture-building, and neuroplasticity-based learning.
With academic foundations including a Bachelor of Commerce, Certificate in Adult Education, and eight professional certifications spanning EQ-i 2.0, DISC, and Neuroplastician®, and a wealth of leadership experience within organizations, she brings both academic rigor and practical insight to every engagement. Pat is an instructor with the University of Winnipeg, QNET Manitoba, and has taught with York University Schulich School of Business, Masters Certificate in Project Management.
