The ability to network effectively is essential to success in the workplace. A key element in the art of networking is the ability to navigate a multitude of social situations, while managing your professional image and reputation.

Many otherwise confident business-people feel nervous or uncomfortable in corporate social settings. Knowing how to conduct yourself in a professional way in these situations will help you feel more confident, competent and credible. Polished networking will help you move from a seamless introduction and small talk to the strategic sharing of ideas and tools and techniques uniquely related to your business.

During this informative session, gain an understanding of the importance of being aware of the impact your actions have on others, an appreciation for the art of effective small talk, and guidelines on general social expectations for a variety of business functions – helping you make the most of the lunches, workshops and conferences you attend.

At the end of this session you will be better able to:

  • Identify the ‘business priority’ when attending corporate social functions.
  • Demonstrate ways to show respect and leadership through social actions and attitude.
  • Navigate networking opportunities with confidence.
  • Understand effective networking communication strategies.
  • Implement practical tips on the entire networking process, from introduction and meaningful conversation to contact follow-up.
  • Network with purpose and develop mutually beneficial business relationships.

Presenter:  Courtney Feldman is an Internationally Certified Impression Management Professional® and Certified Civility Trainer®. She believes credentials alone do not equal success in the new world of work. It is a combination of these credentials with professional presence, social smarts and the ability to convey civility that will lead individuals on their path to success.

This session is presented by QNET in partnership with APICS Winnipeg Chapter and
Manitoba Education and Training.
