Event Description

Leading Teams Remotely in Uncertain Times (Virtual Training)

Apr. 28, 2020

Full day workshop offered virtually over three mornings:
Tuesdays, April 28, May 5, May 12

9:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon each morning

This workshop qualifies as an optional (full day) course in the QNET Certificate in Management Development (CMD)

Everything is NOT normal. Essential service workers are being stretched, many in other sectors have been laid off, while others are trying to learn to work remotely. No matter your context, this is a season where there is need for leaders to lean in and lead.

When this is all over, your staff will remember how you showed up (or did not). This session will focus on practical ways leaders can manage teamwork, communication and conflict while working remotely.

This session is not a webinar! These three weekly sessions will be highly interactive where participants engage with each other in discussions, case studies and skill development in both small breakout groups as well as in the main session. Over the three weeks we intend to foster a learning community with significant connection and peer support on how to effectively lead during this time, facilitated by the session leader.

Part 1: Introduction to Trust and Team in Uncertain Times

  • The importance of leadership at a time like this
  • Everything is not normal, yet not everything is different
  • The 3 C’s of trust and team, and how to maintain and develop them at this time

Part 2: Recovering Trust & Team When it Slips

  • Indicators that trust has slipped
  • Strategies for recovering trust with others
  • Supporting / coaching others to rebuild trust in the team

Part 3: Getting Unstuck: Skills for Difficult Conversations

  • It’s all about timing. How to hold space when the timing is off
  • Saying what needs to be said without setting them off
  • Strategies to engage and manage the highly defensive
