The best leaders and employees draw on the approaches that have worked for them over time, while also understanding the importance of adding skill-sets that may not come as naturally.

However, without realizing it, many of us get stuck in the rut of our “go to” style. The very thing that feels familiar and serves us well in moderation can become a liability over time.

Whether your primary strength is in the area of providing clear analysis (thinker), building relationships (connector), getting things done (doer), or inspiring people to think bigger (visionary), too much of a good thing (or too much of any one style) will eventually overwhelm others or undermine your effectiveness and success.

Leading From Centre means learning to show up as needed with the tools best fit for the job at hand. This course will help you do just that.

In this course you will:

• Achieve understanding of your dominant style(s), including your strengths and excesses
• Learn new tools for engaging others effectively, including when style clashes are creating a challenge
• Expand your overall leadership repertoire, range and productivity
• Walk away with the practical skills you need to address real-world workplace dilemmas.

This one day workshop will help you increase awareness of your own and others’ communication / work styles, while providing the practical tools to work through style clashes. Through practical discussion of workplace case studies, workshop participants will learn how to draw on and leverage the benefits of different approaches, while bringing out the best in others. 

You should attend this course if you would like to improve your communication and work style skill-sets, both at work and beyond. It is particularly beneficial for those looking to increase their ability to positively influence and/or manage others, including the challenge of “managing up” – increasing your ability to positively influence those you report to. 

David Dyck, MA, CMed

David Dyck is a seasoned practitioner who has been employed as a mediator, trainer, facilitator, academic instructor and workplace consultant since 1991. He is an energetic and dynamic trainer who draws on humour, storytelling and practical insight to spark your imagination and equip you with the practical tools you need to respond effectively to the real-world dilemmas you face. Dave holds Bachelor and Masters Degrees in Conflict Resolution and has published in the field. He has been a senior trainer and conflict management specialist at Facilitated Solutions since 2003.
